“It was the night when toasting champagne glasses made anything possible.”- Ivy
New Years Eve can be one of the most magical evenings of your twenty-something existence, or a night you rue until St. Patrick’s Day. NYE is like your high school prom; you have so many expectations you just beg the fates to let them become reality. So what is the recipe to make your dream NYE a reality?
Here are the essential ingredients:
- Look Positively Fabulous: Ivy says it best: “It was time to look fabulous.” Find the most fantastic piece of clothing in your closet and cater the rest of your outfit to it; have fun with it! Break out that lipstick color you’ve been tentative about trying. If there was ever an evening to be bold and confident, this is it! Remember Ivy’s mantra, “You can be revealing and stylish at the same time.” Can’t find anything in your closet? You’ll find gorgeous statement necklaces at Piper Boutique and a myriad of dress options at Habit.
- A Spare Pair: You did it; you wore that new pair of silver stilettos. But you do not want to be that girl, hobbling home in the inaugural five minutes of 2014 because your feet just can’t stand it. Be sensible and bring a comfy spare pair. If you don’t want to carry those around, wear the comfy not-as-fabulous black wedges instead. Still shoeless? Lori’s has a plethora of show-stopping shoes.
- Your Best Friends: You can’t dance the night away without your best girlfriends. They are your NYE essentials, lifesavers and night-makers. “They were the people who would always be there for me,” Ivy proclaimed about her NYE companions. And, if you aren’t with your best friends, who will you recap the night with the next morning over mimosas?
- An Open Mind: You can plan your night down to the second, but plans will always change. Be flexible, and don’t be afraid to go with the flow! Those deviations from the plan could be what makes your night! Don’t be reckless, but leave some room for spontaneity. And as always, “Fake it till you make it.”
And don’t forget Ivy’s wise advice, “If you wanted something to happen, you had to make it happen.” Make your perfect New Year’s with a good attitude and enthusiasm for what is to come! Ellie Goulding said it best; anything can happen!
